Veterinary Surgeon – Cutting Edge
Up to £65,000 depending on clinic, plus benefits
A structured and fully supported route into Emergency and Critical Care (ECC)

, the Cutting Edge course will develop your knowledge, skills, and confidence to excel as an Emergency Vet, making a real difference to pets and their families.

Programme highlights:
  • 250 hours of CPD delivered by recognised ECC specialists

  • 8-week training programme combining interactive seminars and practical sessions

  • Hands on experience in your chosen clinic, guided by an experienced senior clinician

  • Training at our Central Support hub in Scotland (accommodation provided)

  • Opportunities to build your professional network with fellow Cutting Edge participants

Core learning areas include:
  • Recognition and management of shock

  • Fluid therapy and transfusion medicine

  • Respiratory and cardiac emergencies

  • Neurological emergencies and trauma

  • Surgical emergency wet labs

  • Blood gas analysis and point of care ultrasound (POCUS)

  • Clinical reasoning and decision making in ECC

  • Team working and client communication

  • Adjusting to night work

Work-life balance that works for you
After completing Cutting Edge, you will join an ECC clinic of your choice on a full time, permanent basis. You can choose a rota that suits your lifestyle, working between 30–40 hours per week. Our rotas are carefully designed to support both professional development and personal wellbeing, with no more than three nights in a row and an average of three shifts per week.

You will receive a training salary of £42,250 for the first 8 weeks, rising to up to £65,000 from week 9 depending on your chosen clinic.

Who we’re looking for

You should have at least six months’ small animal experience and be confident consulting and performing routine surgical procedures sole charge.
