Our client is a global freight forwarder, shipping worldwide with a specialization in Africa, the Middle East, India, and Pakistan. By working with local partners on every continent, they provide the best sea freight advice and options. They are looking to strengthen their sales department by recruiting an Internal Freight Sales Clerk at their Bradford office.

This crucial role directly contributes to the profitability of the company. Responsibilities include taking customer enquiries, providing quotations, and gaining new business. You should be proactive, maintain and develop business relationships, and communicate effectively while working closely with the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate, competitive pricing to customers and the external sales team.
  • Maximise Profit Per Job (PPJ) while maintaining realistic pricing.
  • Handle customer queries and enquiries via telephone and email.
  • Calculate and advise rates to customers and the external sales team.
  • Provide customers with quotes as requested or required.
  • Manage invoice and price disputes.
  • Work with rate sheets.
  • Develop and grow long‑term relationships with customers and shipping companies.
  • Price up bookings and monitor and maintain the pricing inbox.
Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a commercial environment.
  • Experience in an import/export freight forwarding company or other transport/logistics market.
  • Excellent customer service and sales skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets for self and others.
  • Strong desire to satisfy customer needs and achieve results.
  • Proactive and positive attitude.
  • Active team player.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary: £28,000–£30,000, depending on experience.
  • Working hours:

    9:00–16:15 flex.
  • Holidays: 22 days plus bank holidays to start.
  • Pension scheme.
