About Us

Bradford Children and Families Trust is dedicated to improving outcomes for children, young people, and families across the district. Our Family Hubs provide welcoming, accessible spaces where families can receive the right support at the right time. We are committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred services that promote safety, wellbeing, and positive family relationships.

The Role

We are seeking a proactive, compassionate Family Navigator (Early Years) to join our Family Hub team. As a key first point of contact, you will provide a whole-family service, offering information, support, and practical assistance to children, young people, families, and partner agencies. You will act as a bridge between families, the community, and Family Hub services—helping families access targeted support, navigate services, and feel confident engaging with early years provision.

This includes digital support, hands-on help such as accompanying families to appointments, and liaising with practitioners when concerns arise. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring families receive timely, effective support in line with Best Start in Life.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Welcome families into the Family Hub and identify early years needs quickly, offering clear information, reassurance, and practical support.
  • Engage families with babies and young children through in-hub contact, outreach, and home visits, including those who may be isolated or reluctant to access services.
  • Support parents to access early years activities, health appointments, Best Start in Life services, and digital information, including helping with bookings and reminders.
  • Provide hands‑on assistance where needed, such as accompanying families to appointments or helping them navigate early years services.
  • Build positive relationships with early years partners, including health visitors, midwives, and early education providers.
  • Contribute to meetings, training, and continuous improvement within the Family Hub team.
About You

A recognised qualification in family support, health, education, or social care is desirable.

Essential Experience
  • Evidence of having previously spoken fluently with members of the public.
  • Recent experience delivering information, brokerage, or support services to children, young people, and families.
  • Experience working with disaffected and/or disadvantaged children, young people, and their families.
  • Ideally, experience working in Family Hubs, Children's Centres, or Early Years settings.
You will also bring
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a multi‑agency team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Benefits
  • Generous annual leave - 31 days rising to 34 with service, plus bank holidays.
  • Excellent Local Government pension.
  • Family-friendly policies and enhanced parental leave.
  • Health & wellbeing support, including Occupational Health and counselling.
  • Professional development and career progression opportunities.

We are a National Living Wage employer.
