The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan.

Responsibilities include:

• assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities
• obtaining and recording vital signs
• providing psychosocial support and other personal care to assigned resident
• assisting the resident in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment
• providing range of motion and passive exercises
• completing tasks related to food preparation and dining
• assisting residents with meals and snacks, providing water and supplements as appropriate

Qualifications

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required
• Minimum age of 16
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred
• Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement
