A well-established and growing accountancy practice in Braintree is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accountant to join its expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practice professional seeking a varied role with a diverse client portfolio, genuine career progression and the opportunity to work closely with both clients and senior management.
The Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients while delivering a broad range of accounting, tax and advisory services. You will play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the development of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies
- Producing management accounts and financial reports
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
- Preparing personal and corporate tax returns
- Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Assisting clients with cloud accounting software, including Xero and Quick Books
- Reviewing bookkeeping work and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Supporting partners with ad hoc projects and advisory work
- Ensuring all client deadlines are met efficiently and accurately
About You
- Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice
- ACA, ACCA, AAT qualified or qualified by experience
- Strong experience preparing accounts for a variety of business entities
- Sound knowledge of VAT, bookkeeping and tax compliance
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Quick Books, IRIS or CCH
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage workloads effectively and work independently
