As a Semi-Senior Accountant based in Braintree, you will join an established and expanding Accounts department delivering end-to-end accounting, statutory, and tax compliance solutions to a dynamic client base. Working alongside experienced Senior Managers and Partners, you will take ownership of draft statutory accounts, balance sheet analytical reviews, and VAT controls, while mentoring junior accounts trainees and taking on increasing responsibility as you progress towards full qualification.

• Prepare draft annual statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies under FRS 102 (1a) and FRS 105.
• Conduct comprehensive analytical reviews of balance sheets and profit & loss accounts, providing clear diagnostic commentary for reviewing Managers.
• Prepare draft corporate tax computations and statutory disclosure checklists for manager review.
• Review VAT return schedules, ensure MTD compliance, and advise clients on upcoming tax liabilities.
• Produce management accounts, cash flow analyses, and financial control schedules, highlighting key operational ratios and trends.
• Perform key audit testing procedures, including bank, sales/purchases, fixed assets, debtors, and creditors testing under Audit Manager supervision.
• Review accounting work completed by Accounts Assistants, delivering constructive feedback and on-the-job technical training.

• Manage assigned client engagement workflows to ensure all statutory filing deadlines and cost budgets are strictly met.
• Act as a central contact point for clients, managing day-to-day accounting queries and gathering field information efficiently.
• Perform complex reconciliation procedures across PAYE, VAT, and bank control accounts.
• Assist in training, mentoring, and identifying skill development needs for junior trainee accountants.
• Maintain regular communication with Accounts Managers regarding assignment progress and potential technical findings.
