Location:
Braintree, Essex Salary: £56,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract:
Full-time, Permanent We are recruiting an experienced Deputy Headteacher to join a specialist SEND school in Braintree, Essex.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced school leader to work alongside the Headteacher, helping to shape the school's direction, curriculum and SEND provision while supporting positive outcomes for children and young people.
The Role As Deputy Headteacher, you will support the overall leadership and development of the school and deputise for the Headteacher when required.
Responsibilities will include:
Supporting the school's strategy and improvement plans
Deputising for the Headteacher and overseeing school operations when required
Supporting the development and delivery of a personalised SEND curriculum
Monitoring teaching quality, assessment and pupil progress
Leading and developing teaching and support staff
Supporting safeguarding as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
Promoting positive behaviour and relationship-based approaches
Working closely with parents, carers and multi-agency professionals
Supporting the continued development of SEND provision across the school
Deputy Headteacher Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Significant experience within SEND education
Previous leadership experience such as Assistant Headteacher, Lead Teacher, Senior Leader or Deputy Headteacher
Strong understanding of SEND and EHCPs
Knowledge of safeguarding and statutory requirements
Experience supporting teaching quality and staff development
Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
Experience working with children and young people with additional needs
