• A career where you can truly make a difference

This is so much more than a teaching role. It is an opportunity to work alongside some of the most inspiring, resilient and rewarding young people you will ever meet. Every day brings the chance to make a life-changing difference, celebrate meaningful achievements, and be part of a community where every success is genuinely valued.

At Edith Borthwick School, our learners are at the heart of everything we do. Their enthusiasm, determination and unique personalities make teaching here both purposeful and deeply rewarding. You'll build strong relationships with learners and families while helping children and young people aged 3-19 reach and exceed their potential.

You'll be joining a highly supportive, friendly and collaborative team that understands the importance of staff wellbeing. Our skilled multidisciplinary approach, including onsite therapists and family key workers, means teachers are never working in isolation. We work together to remove barriers, share expertise and ensure staff can focus on what matters most: excellent teaching and meaningful learner progress.

We are committed to providing a positive and sustainable working environment, with strong professional support, excellent resources, outstanding facilities and opportunities for career development. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an ECT, you'll be encouraged, valued and supported to grow professionally while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

If you are passionate about making a difference, enjoy working as part of a caring and ambitious team, and want a role where every day has purpose, we'd love to hear from you.

Edith Borthwick is a highly successful community special school supporting learners aged 3 to 19 with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and autism. Since opening our purpose-built site in Braintree in 2015, we have grown to over 245 learners, offering outstanding facilities including a large field, multi-use games area (MUGA), sensory bus, sensory garden, and mud garden.

Our school's heart beats with a commitment to personalised education, supported by a skilled multi-disciplinary team including onsite therapists and family key workers. We pride ourselves on the warm, respectful, and supportive relationships between staff, learners, and families. Our vision - to enable everyone to reach and go beyond their potential - is lived daily through our values of Respect, Encourage, Achieve, Care, and Have Fun.

Our current priorities focus on enriching our curriculum, embedding therapy across classrooms, promoting mental health and wellbeing, and ensuring sustainable financial planning to maintain the highest standards of education and care.

• is highly motivated and committed to achieving the best for every student
• sets high expectations for themselves and students
• has bundles of energy and enthusiasm and has a great sense of humour
• can make learning motivating, inspiring and fun

In return, Edith Borthwick School can offer:
