Assistant Finance Manager

Location: Great Notley

An ambitious and fast-growing business in Great Notley is seeking a confident and commercially minded Finance Assistant to join its expanding team.

Following a recent rebrand and backed by financial investment, the company has experienced rapid growth and is now looking to appoint someone who wants to build a long-term career within the business.

This role offers genuine progression, with a clear pathway toward Finance Manager and ultimately Finance Director, supported by training and mentorship from the current fractional Finance Director.

Key Duties

* Manage Sales and Purchase Ledger, including reconciliations and invoice approvals

* Maintain accurate bookkeeping within Xero, including daily postings, journals and month-end adjustments

* Complete bank, interest and expense reconciliations

* Support cash flow forecasting, credit control and aged debtor reviews

* Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including preparation of management accounts (P&L, cash flow and balance sheet support)

* Authorise and manage bank payments, including Direct Debits via Go Cardless

* Raise purchase orders and support new business deal processing, including liaison with funders and lease reconciliations

* Set up and manage customer contracts within CRM systems

* Act as the main point of contact for finance-related customer and supplier queries

* Provide wider commercial, sales support and administrative assistance as required

About You

* Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar role

* Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential)

* Comfortable taking ownership and accountability

* Highly organised with strong attention to detail

* Able to work in a fast-growing, evolving environment

* Strong communication skills and confident liaising with funders and stakeholders

* Ideally having worked for a service-led technology or engineering business
