Description Residential Property Accountant The Residential Property Accountant is responsible for financial accounting and reporting across a portfolio of multi-family properties. This role includes transaction processing, general ledger review, external financial reporting, audit preparation, and ownership distributions. The accountant will also update and document accounting procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency for both owned and fee-managed market, mixed-use, and affordable housing properties.

This position offers a base salary of $85,000-$95,000, with in-office work required (potential for one remote day per week after training).

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage monthly accounting processes including rent, lease adjustments, vacancy tracking, reconciliations, and recurring journal entries
  • Ensure accurate and timely payments for mortgages, real estate taxes, and management fees
  • Complete month-end closings, prepare lender/investor reporting packages, and support annual budgets
  • Oversee audit preparation, resolve discrepancies, and review final financial statements
  • Monitor property cash flow, process transfers, distributions, and maintain liquidity accuracy
  • Adhere to company policies, complete required training, and participate in meetings
Required Experience
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in residential property (multi-family housing)
  • Experience with Yardi software
Nice-to-Have Experience
  • Exposure to mixed-use or affordable housing property portfolios
  • Experience preparing lender and investor reporting packages
  • Prior involvement in year-end external audits
