Summary
:
Under general supervision, performs routine and special laboratory assays of patient specimens (e.g., body fluids, exudates, skin scrapings or surgical specimens), exercising independent judgment when evaluating the validity of test results prior to reporting. Provides data for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease; operates and calibrates all equipment in the area of specialization, evaluates the validity of laboratory data, records test results, and communicates with physicians, pathologists and nursing staff regarding test procedures and results.
Education / Licenses / Certifications
- Associates degree in laboratory science (chemical or biological) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from an accredited institution is also acceptable.
- Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the ASCP or equivalent (those without certification are typically expected to become certified within six months of hire).
- Certifications meeting the federal requirements of CLIA 88 are acceptable.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
Experience
:
One year of laboratory experience preferred.
Skills
:
Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve complex clinical and instrument problems; accurate, reliable, and able to work well under pressure and to finish tasks once started; strong communication skills in writing and speaking.
Hourly range: $31.77 to $46.26 per hour based on full‑time employment. Atrius Health complies with all applicable minimum wage laws.

Monday–Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm, rotating weekends and holidays.
