Supply Chain Expeditor; Part Time

Our client is a well established defense manufacturer producing mission critical systems and components for the U.S. military. To speed up deliveries from a key casting supplier in the Braintree, MA area, the company is bringing on a part time Supply Chain Expeditor to serve as its eyes and ears on the supplier’s shop floor. This is a hands on, high visibility contract role where the work directly drives on time delivery for defense programs.

• Part time schedule of up to 20 hours per week, with flexibility on when site visits happen
• 3 to 6 month contract engagement, with potential follow on assignments at other local suppliers for strong performers
• Direct partnership with senior supply chain leadership, where daily findings shape sourcing and delivery decisions
• High autonomy role for an independent self starter who wants to own results without being micromanaged
• Meaningful work supporting defense programs, where every recovered delivery has visible impact

The Supply Chain Expeditor will be the client’s onsite presence at one designated casting supplier, visiting several times a week to track critical parts, verify the supplier’s commitments and report progress back to the supply chain team.

• Serve as the primary point of contact between the client and the supplier, visiting the site 3 to 5 days per week
• Physically locate critical castings and confirm each part’s stage in production, including pour, cleaning, grinding, weld repair, NDT and shipment
• Read shop travelers and production schedules to verify actual progress against the supplier’s prior commitments
• Cross check supplier provided updates against on site observations and track day over day movement of priority parts
• Identify delays and bottlenecks early, push for firm delivery dates and escal… with recommended solutions
• Confirm what parts are included in each outbound shipment before it leaves the facility
• Deliver a written summary after each visit and maintain the priority parts tracker in Excel
• Hold the supplier accountable to deadlines, quality standards and contract terms, partnering with the supply chain team on priorities and project timelines

• Proven experience as a Supply Chain Expeditor, Production Control Specialist, Source Inspector or in a comparable supplier facing manufacturing role
• Hands on manufacturing shop floor experience, with a working knowledge of production flow, routings and inventory
• Castings and foundry experience is a significant advantage
• Defense manufacturing experience is a strong plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; ERP experience a plus, and Power BI is a strong plus
• Confident, polite and firm communicator who builds productive supplier relationships while holding them accountable
• Detail oriented and organized, with strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently
• Comfortable working in a dusty industrial foundry environment wearing required PPE, including steel toe boots, and able to lift and move parts
• Local to Braintree, MA, with reliable transportation to the supplier site several days per week
• U.S. citizenship required
