Our client is a well-established contractor with over 25 years in Ontario's construction industry, operating through a vertically integrated group of companies with a workforce of over 700. They support large-scale projects across the GTA and beyond.
This is a newly created Senior Accountant role within a growing Finance team, reporting to the Corporate Controller. Processes are being built from the ground up — making this a strong opportunity for someone who wants real ownership in a multi‑entity environment and room to grow.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full‑cycle accounting across multiple entities, supporting month‑end and year‑end close
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare journal entries under ASPE
- Own intercompany reconciliations — loans, cross charges, and invoicing — and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain CAPEX and OPEX records, including fixed assets, leases, and equipment costs
- Prepare and file HST returns and manage related regulatory filings
- Support year‑end review engagement and provide requested documentation
- Assist with project accounting, including budget vs. actual reporting and cost review
- Contribute to process improvement and internal controls as the function is built out
- 3 - 6 years of progressive accounting experience
- Solid grounding in full‑cycle accounting, month‑end close, and financial reporting under ASPE
- Experience with intercompany accounting in a multi‑entity environment
- Hands‑on exposure to project accounting, cost accounting, or job costing — construction, contracting, or manufacturing background is an asset
- CPA designation completed or in progress is strongly preferred
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems; experience with CMIC, Jonas, or Sage is an advantage
- Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, lookups, and formulas
- Able to work independently with robust attention to detail and a process‑oriented mindset
- Experience in construction, contracting, or a similarly project‑driven industry
- Familiarity with CMIC or comparable construction ERP platforms
- Exposure to review engagement support (note: this is a review engagement, not a full audit)
