Job Description:

Aspire for Higher delivers structured, sports-based youth development programs for students in Grades 1–8. We are seeking an experienced and organized Summer Camp Coordinator to oversee our basketball and sports camps operations, Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

The Camp Coordinator will lead daily operations, supervise staff and volunteers, support program planning, and ensure the delivery of a safe, inclusive, and high-quality camp experience. This role is ideal for educators, recreation leaders, or youth program professionals who are confident in managing teams and communicating with families.

Hourly rate:  $22-25.00 per hour depending on experience

Minimum 2 years of experience supervising staff in recreation, education, early childhood education, youth work, or a related field

Experience in a school or camp leadership setting is strongly preferred

Valid Emergency First Aid and CPR B Certification

Experience working with children in Grades 1–8

Competitive playing experience in basketball or organized sport is an asset

Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills

Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening

Job Responsibilities:

Oversee daily camp operations under the direction of the Camp Director

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate camp staff and volunteers

Provide ongoing coaching to staff to strengthen program delivery, teaching techniques, and behaviour management strategies

Ensure full implementation of all Aspire for Higher policies, safety standards, and emergency procedures

Develop and monitor staff schedules to ensure appropriate supervision ratios and coverage during arrival and dismissal

Review and approve staff time logs

Serve as the primary point of contact for parent inquiries and concerns

Conduct daily safety inspections of facilities and equipment, reporting concerns promptly

Support a structured, inclusive, and engaging program environment

Perform additional duties as required to ensure smooth camp operations
