Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Design Engineer/Designer - Power to join our Engineering Team!
What You Will Do
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, Electrical, you will be responsible for preparing conceptual and final traction power and substation engineering designs for transit related structures and facilities.
This involves the following:
- Develop traction power and substation system concepts that align with requirements defined by user groups and other engineering disciplines.
- Conduct detailed analysis and design calculations to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and the TTC Design Manual.
- Provide clear sketches and markups to guide Design Draftspersons in the preparation of technical drawings.
- Review and approve technical drawings prepared by internal staff or external consultants, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards.
- Support the development of standard drawings and perform field reviews and shop drawing evaluations as required.
- Represent the engineering section in development review meetings and cross-functional discussions.
- Review and sign off on contract documents to confirm readiness for bidding and construction phases.
- Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations to stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making.
