Job Description
The Structural Designer is responsible for developing structural designs, drawings, models, and technical documentation for building and infrastructure projects. The role involves working closely with structural engineers, architects, other disciplines, contractors, and project stakeholders to deliver coordinated, constructible, and technically sound structural solutions in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.

Job Responsibilities
Develop structural layouts, plans, elevations, sections, details, and construction drawings based on engineering design requirements.
Prepare and maintain structural 2D drawings and 3D models using applicable design and drafting software.
Assist structural engineers with the development and documentation of structural systems, including foundations, framing, connections, and structural components.
Interpret engineering calculations, sketches, specifications, and design criteria and translate them into accurate construction documentation.
Coordinate structural designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and other project disciplines.
Identify and resolve design, drafting, and coordination issues during the design development process.
Incorporate project standards, applicable building codes, regulations, specifications, and engineering requirements into design deliverables.
Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, and constructability reviews.
Support the development of innovative and efficient structural solutions that improve constructability, sustainability, performance, and overall project value.
Review drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
Assist with revisions, RFIs, site queries, shop drawing reviews, and construction-related technical support as required.
Maintain drawing standards, document control, and design records in accordance with project procedures.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of structural design standards, workflows, templates, and digital delivery processes.
Qualifications
Diploma, degree, or equivalent technical education in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
2+ years of experience in structural drafting, design, or engineering consulting is preferred.
Proficiency in structural design and drafting software such as Autodesk Revit, or equivalent platforms.
Familiarity with structural systems, materials, construction methods, and applicable codes and standards.
Strong understanding of technical drawings, detailing, dimensions, specifications, and construction documentation.
Ability to interpret structural calculations and engineering information and convert them into practical design documentation.
Strong coordination, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Preferred Skills

Experience with BIM and multidisciplinary model coordination.
Knowledge of steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber structural systems.
Experience preparing detailed construction and fabrication drawings.
Familiarity with clash detection and digital coordination workflows.
