Role Description
The Orthotic Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Brampton, ON. This role involves assisting with the design, fabrication, adjustment, and repair of custom orthotics and related medical devices under the guidance of clinical staff. Day-to-day tasks include taking and interpreting measurements, working with molds and materials, operating fabrication equipment, and ensuring devices meet specifications and quality standards. The Orthotic Technician will interact with patients and healthcare providers to support fittings, address comfort or functional concerns, and document work performed.
The role also includes maintaining a clean, safe workshop environment, managing inventory of supplies, and following all clinical and regulatory protocols.
Qualifications
Strong foundational knowledge and practical experience in orthotics and orthopedics, including fabrication and adjustment of devices.
Understanding of prosthetics and related medical device technologies, with the ability to support clinical staff in basic technical tasks.
Effective communication skills for collaborating with clinicians, colleagues, and patients, including clear documentation of work.
Commitment to patient care, with a focus on safety, comfort, and respectful, inclusive interactions.
Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to read and follow technical specifications and prescriptions.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on fabrication tasks in a workshop environment.
Previous experience in an orthotic, prosthetic, or orthopedic setting is an asset.
Relevant technical diploma, certification, or training in orthotics, prosthetics, or medical device technology preferred.
