What we’re looking for

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results‑oriented Director of Search to lead our global SEO and SEM channels. The role will develop and execute a unified, holistic Search strategy that drives sustainable traffic, conversions, and revenue growth across paid and organic channels. You will lead the Search team and serve as the primary bridge between technical, product, paid, and data teams.

What

you’ll be working on
  • Develop and champion a unified, multi‑year global Search strategy that maximizes traffic & conversions across both SEO and SEM.
  • Develop a clear, competitive POV on how Survey Monkey will achieve high visibility and conversion rates within the evolving Generative Experience Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) landscape.
  • Own the global Search budget and forecasting models, allocating multi‑million dollar spend across paid channels while balancing investment in organic initiatives.
  • Serve as the cross‑functional leader connecting Growth, Product, Engineering, Content, and Data Science teams to prioritize and align on the technical roadmap and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end Search strategy, including technical SEO implementation, keyword strategy, ad copy/content optimization, bid management, and content structuring for optimal consumption by LLMs and generative AI outputs.
  • Drive continuous testing and optimization (A/B testing) across all campaigns and assets, ensuring performance excellence through keyword research and competitive analysis.
  • Partner closely with the Data team to enhance attribution models and ensure accurate paid signal data.
  • Stay abreast of algorithm changes, industry trends, and new technologies such as LLM‑driven search, AEO, and GEO.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow the Search team, fostering collaboration between SEO and SEM disciplines.
  • Provide strategic direction to functional channel leads, ensuring optimized daily performance and campaign alignment.
  • Manage search marketing budgets and tools, directing vendor and platform relationships.
We’d love to hear from people with
  • 7+ years of Search marketing experience; 3+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing both SEO and SEM in a high‑growth B2B SaaS environment.
  • Track record of driving measurable organic traffic growth and managing multi‑million dollar global SEM budgets.
  • Experience building, managing, and mentoring entire Search teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Understanding of technical SEO, content, paid strategy, and the evolving GEO, AEO, LLM landscape.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical requirements to non‑technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Strong grasp of web development technologies and site architecture for enterprise‑scale SEO.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and budget optimization using tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, SA360, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog.
Compensation & Benefits

Base pay range: $177,395 – $240,005 per year, depending on geographic market and experience. Bonuses and commissions may also be offered. Remote / Work Location

This role is remote; however, in‑person participation at Survey Monkey offices may be required for company events.
