FIRST NATIONS LAND MANAGEMENT RESOURCE CENTRE

The Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management (Framework Agreement) is a significant expression of Indigenous ingenuity and modern efforts to shed the colonial legacy of the Indian Act. Our team at the First Nation Lands Management Resource Centre (FNLMRC) is cutting edge, dedicated and experienced in assisting Framework Agreement signatory First Nations to develop workable solutions to the everyday challenges of community led lands and resources governance.

We are currently searching for motivated and qualified candidate to fill an Digital Information Advisor position.

Location – Within Canada, to be determined based on the successful candidate.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Training, Mentorship, and Professional Development (TMPD) Manager, the Digital Information Advisor is the FNLMRC’s “in-house” advisor. In collaboration with Communications and IT, the incumbent supports the development of effective information architecture, user experience (UX), and content organization practices that ensure digital resources are accessible, searchable, and user-friendly. The Advisor is responsible for establishing and maintaining a scalable and sustainable website structure that supports knowledge sharing and content organization, and providing support for the Learning Management System (LMS).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Information Architecture and Knowledge Sharing
  • Design, develop, and maintain the FNLMRC's website architecture, ensuring content is organized, searchable, accessible, and easy to navigate.
  • Develop and implement standards for content organization, taxonomy, metadata, tagging, and knowledge sharing practices.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the information architecture, organizational structure, and governance framework for the Knowledge Repository, ensuring digital resources are well-organized, searchable, accessible, and sustainable over time.
  • Conduct content audits and make recommendations to improve content quality, information flow, findability, and overall user experience.
  • Collaborate with the TMPD team to ensure digital resources remain current, relevant, and aligned with organizational priorities
Website User Experience and Optimization
  • Design and enhance intuitive website navigation, user journeys, and resource pathways that improve access to information and digital resources.
  • .Analyze user behaviour, website analytics, and feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to website usability, accessibility, and overall user experience.
  • Collaborate with Communications to ensure website content aligns with accessibility requirements, branding standards, and communications objectives.
Learning Systems Support:
  • Provide administrative and technical support for the LMS and related learning technologies and coordinate with IT regarding system maintenance, security, and platform updates.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Post-secondary education in Information Management, User Experience (UX) Design, Web Development, Library and Information Studies, or a related field. (A combination of education and experience or experience working with First Nations may be considered)
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience managing websites, digital information systems, knowledge repositories, or online resource platforms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information architecture, content management, user experience principles, and digital resource management.
  • Experience administering content management systems, preferably Word Press.
