What You'll Do
- Overview inventory levels of assigned commodities, to maintain healthy stock levels and to increase the inventory turns
- Leverage current market insights to drive competitive pricing strategies and proactively mitigate future pricing risks
- Continually analyse incoming goods verses forecast/demand, establish re‑order points in the system
- Communicate PO requirements to the Purchasing Manager for approval
- Frequently review Vendor scorecards and flag increasing risk to Purchasing Manager
- Frequently send out scorecards to suppliers and review with suppliers based on score
- Highlight potential obsolete material, slow moving material to the Dry Goods Purchasing Manager for review
- Build and maintain qualified relationships with key suppliers
- Request pricing for current or existing items through the RFQ process from the company approved suppliers list
- Generate quote summaries and review with Purchasing Manager, for recommendations
- Generate price change notice form and review with Purchasing Manager, for further actions
- Maintain and update commodity data, for the assigned commodities, in the computerized system
- Comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Bio Security, and Nature Fresh Policies and Procedures
- Complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

- 3 or more years in proven experience in the agricultural/produce industry and/or purchasing, packaging and/or material planning
- Negotiation skills
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Extensive knowledge in MS Office (specifically Excel), ERP systems and CHEP program
- Post‑secondary education in Purchasing/Supply Chain Management is preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in a professional work environment
- Must be hands‑on and process‑oriented, always looking to improve processes
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment, as well as independently
- Ability to work in a fast environment by multitasking and prioritizing work while being attentive to details and quality
- Ability to embrace and adapt to the rapid growth, innovation, and development of the company
- Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle are required as needed
- Spanish considered an asset
Most of the day is spent in the office. Fast‑paced warehouse environment where temperatures vary from cooler to temperature‑controlled areas. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs may be required. Balance between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the warehouse. Working with a wide array of people/cultures in a team setting including guest workers, locals, contractors, and vendors. Full‑time Monday to Friday 8am‑5pm with Saturdays and Holidays as needed.
