About

The Role

Reporting to the Superintendent, Property Management, this position supports the implementation of the property management program and is responsible for daily property management operations on land owned and/or managed by CVC. This includes buildings, facilities, trails, and public open spaces for liability, maintenance, customer service, and compliance messaging. The Lead Head assists in the supervision and training of hourly staff, operates machinery, tools and equipment, completes daily work assignments and participates in planning and performing minor building projects.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in parks management, resource management, related studies or directly related work experience
  • Valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license in good standing
  • 2 years of experience directly related to park operations, winter maintenance, land care or facility maintenance
  • Chainsaw Operator Certification required
  • Operation of Small Drinking Water Systems certification is an asset
  • Experience supervising and directing work to hourly staff
  • Ability to operate and maintain a variety of manual and power equipment (e.g. leaf blower, brush saw, Kubota RTV, etc.)
  • General knowledge of construction, machinery and equipment use, maintenance, and repairs
  • Proven ability to assess property-related risks (e.g., hazard trees, infrastructure deficiencies, public safety concerns) and implement appropriate corrective actions
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to provide effective customer service
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Works well in a team setting and on their own with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to lift heavy items up to 125 lbs.
  • Available to work some weekends and holidays during the winter
Summary Of Major Tasks
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop monthly and seasonal work plans.
  • Create weekly work plans and ensure materials are available for daily operations and maintenance.
  • Provide training to hourly staff on any equipment that may be required for daily operation, in accordance with CVC Health and Safety polices.
  • Identify and communicate any safety concerns or time restraints due to processes, materials, equipment, or unforeseen circumstances
  • Ensure that routine and project deadlines are met and provide support to hourly staff as required
  • Lead Conservation Area liability and health and safety inspections in accordance with CVC policies and guidelines.
  • In collaboration with the superintendent implement safe work procedures, policies, and practices to ensure both staff and visitor safety
  • Address, document, and report any liability concerns in a timely manner, ensuring all park facilities, buildings, trails, and waterways are in good standard of care.
  • Execute maintenance of trails, boardwalks, bridges, benches, kiosks, and picnic tables.
