In this role, you will join the Project Controls team within the Major Projects Sector, based in one of our offices in Ottawa, Brampton, or Markham. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to both ongoing initiatives and future projects.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
Reporting to the Vice President Project Controls, and working with the Project Controls team:
Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, change & risk management, cost estimating & control, forecasting, reporting and document management for assigned projectsWork with Project Managers to ensure alignment of the project forecast Estimate To Complete (ETC)/Estimate At Completion (EAC) both in terms of time and costEnsure maintenance and updating of project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS)Provide accurate internal weekly and monthly project reports. Interface with, and present to managementProvide project planning and scheduling input into proposals and bidsPrepare and present project planning and scheduling reports for Project Management and Client reviewOversee preparation of cost reviews and participate in project review auditsAnalyze, trend, and communicate progress information to project personnel, including Earned Value reportingParticipate in project risk assessments and workshops to identify and mitigate risks related to potential impacts on scope, cost, and scheduleImplement Change Management on assigned projectsMonitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from subconsultantsEvaluate project contracts and commercial terms to ensure that the project controls processes are aligned to address any specific project needsUnderstand contractual language, ensure projects are contract and company compliantEnsure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and company standardsUnderstand pricing approaches (Lump Sum, T&M, Fixed Fee)Interdisciplinary communication with Design Leads and Project Management teamCommunicate proactively, with the project team, stakeholders, and project leadership, all issues and variances which may influence the project outcomeWhat your experience looks like
Degree/Diploma in management or a related fieldProject Management, Accounting & Finance qualification and/or accreditationStrong, proven understanding of management practices, in particular finance & accounting10+ years of major project experience holding commercial roles5+ years of project controls experience for large transportation/infrastructure projectsWorking with senior-level management teamExtensive experience with WBS, CBS, and assessment of Earned ValueSoftware knowledge: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Power BI, Primavera P6Effective oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborateSolid track record in managing, mentoring, and leading a teamEXP subscribes to the Workplace Equity Program.
