CNC Lathe Machinist - Advanced (Rotating Shifts) - Georgetown, Ontario
We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist - Advanced to operate and set up multiple CNC Horizontal Lathes with live tooling, working on parts from bar stock and castings. This position offers a rotating shift schedule—two weeks of days followed by two weeks of afternoons—perfect for professionals seeking flexibility and growth.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC Horizontal Lathes with two spindles and live tooling
- Interpret blueprints, process sheets, and programs to determine machining requirements
- Load, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs to ensure precision and efficiency
- Select, preset, and install tooling, including live tools and grinding tools as needed
- Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure parts meet tight tolerances (as precise as 5 microns)
- Conduct minor preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment
- Collaborate with programmers and team members to optimize machining processes
- Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to ISO standards and safety protocols
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in precision CNC machining, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to machine components to tight tolerances (5 microns) and small dimensions
- Proficient in reading blueprints, process sheets, and editing CNC programs
- Experience with CNC Horizontal Lathes, live tooling, and program troubleshooting
- High school diploma required; completion of a General Machinist Apprenticeship is a plus
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot complex machining issues
