JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for programming CNC lathes and setting up machines for production to ensure efficient, high-quality machining operations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and optimize CNC programs for CNC lathesSet up machines for other operators, including first-off requirements for repeat jobsTroubleshoot programming issues and adjust as needed to maintain production efficiencyParticipate in tool and fixture selection during the development of new partsImprove existing programs to reduce machine cycle timeOperate machines when setup or programming is not requiredConduct in-process inspections of machined parts using measuring instruments to ensure accuracyCollaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and reduce waste using Lean manufacturing techniques, such as setup reduction eventsAssemble components during cycle time as needed, ensuring all parts meet quality standardsPerform daily preventive maintenance on machines, including cleaning coolant tanks as scheduledMaintain good housekeeping and follow Lean Manufacturing and FEM requirementsReport any equipment or tool malfunctions to the supervisorPerform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or ManagerEDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in programming and setup of Twin Spindle Twin Turret CNC LathesProficiency in programming jobs with bar feeders and chucking setupsExperience programming jobs with live tools and other modern machine technologiesExperience with castings is considered an assetStrong ability to read technical drawings/blueprints and working knowledge of GD&T is requiredSkilled in the use of measuring equipment such as micrometers and height gauges (CMM experience is an asset)Experience with Solid Works or similar CAD software is a plusCrane training is an assetKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing principlesStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience working in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment is preferredCompensation: $27 - 30/hr
