Production Worker Stacking and Assembly (Afternoon Shift)

Job Description

This role focuses on stacking and assembly work to support the production of high-quality power distribution components. You will read and interpret blueprints, prepare and assemble metal cores, and work as part of a small, collaborative team to ensure products meet precise mechanical and electrical standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform stacking and assembly tasks for core components used in power distribution equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and diagrams to understand specifications and assembly requirements.
  • Cut metal pieces to the required length using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Use a table clamp and other fixtures to secure materials during cutting and assembly.
  • Assemble small and large cores, ensuring all components align correctly and meet quality standards.
  • Stack metal pieces together accurately to build cores according to blueprint specifications.
  • Apply epoxy to secure assembled cores to their bases and ensure proper bonding.
  • Use temporary taping to hold units together during various stages of the assembly process.
  • Operate hand and power tools, including hammers and shears, to align cores and complete assembly tasks.
  • Inspect assemblies visually and through measurement to confirm alignment and structural integrity.
  • Follow production instructions and work orders to meet daily and weekly output targets.
  • Collaborate with team members on the plant floor to coordinate tasks and maintain efficient workflow.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use tools and equipment in accordance with training and guidelines.
  • Participate in training to learn and develop the electrical aspects of the role as required by the production process.
Qualifications Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience in mechanical assembly, machine operation, or general production work.
  • At least 1 year of experience reading and working from blueprints or diagrams.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and follow technical instructions.
  • Basic electrical capabilities or willingness to work with electrically related components.
  • Proficiency using hand tools such as hammers and shears.
  • Experience using power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to measure, cut, and handle metal pieces accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based production environment.
  • Comfort working in a smaller facility and on a busy plant floor.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and develop additional electrical knowledge.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience assembling components for industrial, electrical, or power-related products.
  • Experience working from detailed technical drawings or manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise assembly tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to different tasks within the stacking and assembly process as needed.
  • Openness to cross‑training and taking on additional responsibilities over time.
Work Environment

The role is based in a small production facility with approximately 15 or more employees working on the plant floor. You will work primarily on the afternoon shift from 3:15 to 11:45, and you should be flexible for shift needs where possible. Initial training will take place on day shifts for approximately 23 weeks, depending on how quickly you learn the processes.

All materials and tools are provided and organized to support efficient assembly work, including hand tools, power tools, table clamps, and related equipment. The facility has good lighting but can be somewhat dusty, typical of a metal‑working and assembly environment. Work is team-based, and you will frequently collaborate with others to assemble core products that go into power distribution units.

Dress should be appropriate for a production floor, with practical, safety‑conscious attire suitable for working with tools, metal components, and epoxy in a light industrial setting.
