Location: Halton Hills

Purpose

The Welder II role performs production welding tasks using MIG equipment, builds complex forms and weldments with or without fixtures, and contributes to form maintenance and quality assurance to support manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welding Fabrication (35%)
    • Build a wide variety of forms— including standards, specials, and SWLs—without relying on fixtures, etched lines, or tab-and-slot indicators.
    • Interpret mechanical drawings to guide construction and layout.
    • Develop and fabricate simple jigs/fixtures as required.
    • Weld forms and structural components using flux‑core and high tensile wire.
    • Set up welding machines and complete welds manually for consistent build quality.
  • Standards and Specials (20%)
    • Fabricate standard, SWL, and special forms using laser‑etched guidelines or tab-and-slot features, or performing basic layout—often without fixtures.
    • Interpret mechanical drawings to construct simple assemblies.
    • Develop and fabricate simple fixtures.
  • Fabrication Tools (15%)
    • Work with weld fixtures and material handling equipment, including grinders, plasma cutters, torches, mag drills and gauges to complete precise fabrication tasks.
    • Operate stretcher.
  • Inspection and Documentation (10%)
    • Verify weld quality, dimensions, and fit by using measuring tools and participating in quality audit processes.
    • Repair nonconformances.
    • Accurately record time, tasks, and audit results using Kronos and work order systems.
  • Maintenance and Repair (10%)
    • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble forms as part of the repair team.
    • Help extend form life and functionality through targeted welding and part replacement.
  • Contribute to Safety and Work Area Standards (10%)
    • Maintain a clean, organized work environment and follow all safety policies.
    • Participate in safety programs, report hazards, and uphold best practices in material handling.

Additional duties may be assigned as required by business necessity and may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing to meet organizational goals and priorities.

Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Skills & Experience
    • Proficiency in MIG welding processes.
    • Experience with material handling equipment.
  • Additional Skills
    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
    • Experience in a metal fabrication environment preferred.
    • Pass EFCO's weld test.
    • Familiarity with measuring tools down to 1/64 inch.
