Assembler – Electrical and Mechanical (Power Distribution Units)

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling high-efficiency power distribution units from scratch, including both mechanical assembly and electrical wiring. You will use hand and power tools, follow detailed electrical schematics, and work as part of a close-knit team to build, wire, and test customized distribution units for a major project over the next several months.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble power distribution units from scratch, including metal enclosures that resemble large multi-door lockers.
  • Use hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and air-compressed power tools to complete mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics to perform accurate electrical wiring of panels and components.
  • Install wired panels and components into the outer shell of the power distribution unit according to specifications.
  • Test completed power distribution units to verify proper operation and ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
  • Perform general shop duties, including cleaning work areas, building skids, and supporting other tasks as required by leadership.
  • Work closely with a designated buddy during training to learn and follow procedures for mechanical assembly and product-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members in a small, project-focused warehouse environment to meet production targets and timelines.
  • Follow all safety guidelines while using tools, handling materials, and working around electrical components.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience performing electrical wiring and electrical assembly.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience reading and working from electrical schematics.
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience performing mechanical assembly using hand and power tools.
  • Proficiency with hand tools such as screwdrivers and wrenches.
  • Proficiency with power tools, including air-compressed power tools.
  • Ability to interpret and follow detailed electrical schematics and assembly instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a close-quarters environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience assembling customized or project-based electrical equipment.
  • Comfort working in a production environment where multiple units are built over a defined project timeline.
  • Willingness to start on day shift for training and transition to afternoon shift as required.
  • Adaptability to perform both electrical and mechanical tasks as needed.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with a buddy and broader team.

The position offers a day shift from 7:00 . to 3:30 . and an afternoon shift from 3:30 .

to 12:00 ., Monday to Friday. New hires train on the day shift for several weeks before transitioning to afternoons, where an additional hourly premium applies. All tools and materials are provided, and the environment emphasizes teamwork, safety, and consistent production to meet project deadlines.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.75 - $19.75/hr.
