Job Description

Apply all aspects of the nursing process to the care of the surgical day patient in a professional and multi-disciplinary team. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients in the PACU and Pre-Admission Clinic.

Qualifications

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
  • ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing
  • Current 3-5 years Surgical Day Care nursing experience required
  • Current 3-5 years PACU nursing experience required.
  • Critical Care Nursing course and/or PACU course required.
  • Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred
  • Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required.
  • Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures.
  • Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias
  • Strong patient assessment skills essential
  • Must possess excellent decision making & critical thinking skills
  • Flexible, good team player with positive attitude.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Caring attitude with patients, families and co-workers.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.

    • Additional Information

    Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating shifts-- Days and Evenings -- hour shifts. On call PACU shifts scheduled (hours subject to change based on operational requirements)

    Salary: $ per hour - $ per hour
