Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees work with people who experience developmental disabilities as they live in their homes and communities. This position assists people in their daily life, working with them and their connections to ensure that they can live fully in the community. Direct Support Professionals recognize people's rights to direct their life, understanding that each person has unique gifts and needs, and they support people to learn skills for their own growth and development.

Requirements:
- Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Worker, or post-secondary education in a related field
- Current/Valid G Driver's License
- Current NVCI and ability to utilise skills
- Current Fist Aid/CPR and ability to utilise skills
- Access to reliable transportation (some travel required)
Experience
Required:
- Behaviour supports
- Medical supports
- Community Participation Supports /Day Program
- Supports to people interacting with the Criminal justice system
- Supports to people living with a dual diagnosis
- Supports to people who do not use words to communicate
- Supports to people living with different developmental, intellectual, physical and mental health diagnoses
Ability
Required:
- Able to lift 20lbs
- Able to perform restraints if necessary
Preferred:
- Previous Developmental Services work experience. Previous experience at a CPS location is a bonus.
- At least 6 months relevant experience to this position preferred

Schedule:
Day time shifts i.e. 9am-3pm to cover call-ins and back-fill shifts
Wage:
The successful candidate for the position will be paid according to schedule A of the SEIU Peel/Halton Bargaining Unit. Collective Agreement currently $22.53 per hour.
