Logistics Coordinator

Time Type:  Full Time

Compensation:  Salary starting at $57,000, plus eligible benefits, in accordance with experience and internal equity.

Summary

Logistics Coordinator primary role is to handle day‑to‑day operational elements of our customer’s needs, seeking the best methods to move freight based on customer requirements. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to organize and prioritize activities with a high degree of independence. Responsibilities include Import, Export and Domestic Transportation activities, ensuring timely and accurate movement of freight and information, and providing exceptional customer service within the Transportation Department.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze booking information from customer to determine service requirements, verify routes, border crossing points and rates, and enter the information in the system.

Work independently to accomplish tasks within the scope of the job.

Coordinate the flow of inbound and outbound freight while staying abreast of daily priorities and weekly transportation targets.

Respond efficiently to internal stakeholder inquiries and resolve conflicts or problems.

Maintain account correspondence and upload appropriate electronic copies with milestones.

Prepare and present quotes with both internal and external clients; maintain quotes in the system.

Contact carriers to confirm equipment, expectations, and load details.

Dispatch shipments and communicate with carriers to monitor freight movement.

Update milestones in real‑time environment.

Optimize DSV profit margin as much as possible without compromising service.

Monitor unresponsive carriers and inform dispatchers and supervisors of escalated issues.

Update transportation management system and customer websites with real‑time load locations.

Identify problems proactively and develop creative solutions.

Prioritize loads based on importance and delivery date.

Communicate modifications to the account manager to update clients.

Build strong relationships with assigned carriers through communication and ongoing monitoring of on‑time performance.

Prepare performance reports for all carrier issues and notify appropriate parties.

Negotiate additional charges with carriers and maintain accuracy of carrier information.

Ensure tracking meets established standards and escalates for resolution as appropriate.

Understand current industry market conditions and communicate any carrier issues that might impact operations.

Maintain knowledge of transportation cargo claims, transportation laws and risk management.

Keep operations team and account manager updated on significant issues.

Maintain confidentiality of client information and integrity of shared work files.

Meet KPI standards per company guidelines.

Perform other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Minimum 1–2 years in transportation, logistics or distribution.

College diploma or university degree in Business, Logistics or International Trade (preferable).

CIFFA certificate – asset.

Dangerous Goods certification – asset.

Skills and Competencies
