The Equipment Operator II (School Bus Driver) is responsible for the safe transportation of students to and from schools according to pre-planned routes and for school events where applicable. While operating the bus, the Operator is responsible for the supervision of students and reporting incidents/accidents/discipline matters to School Administrators and/or Management. The Operator will also maintain a record of duty status, perform daily and post-trip inspections, perform minor repairs, and maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.
This position will be responsible for snow clearing and ice control. Other related duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- High school diploma or equivalent
- Submission of suitable Certificate of Conduct
- Submission of a suitable Vulnerable Sector Check
- Submission of a suitable Driver's Abstract
- Class 9 air brake endorsement
- Class 2 beginners
- Willingness to obtain a Class 2 driver's licence
- Meet all other requirements of the Student Transportation Driver Standards
- Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act
- Understanding of bus evacuation procedures
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety
- WHMIS
- Understanding of school board policies and procedures
- Must be certified in first aid with level C CPR
- Defensive driving
- Reliable transportation
- The ability to work as a team player and independently
- Experience working with children either in a work or volunteer capacity would be considered an asset.
