General Laborer

The General Laborer plays a vital support role in road construction projects, assisting skilled tradespeople and equipment operators by performing a variety of manual labor tasks. Responsibilities include site preparation, loading and unloading materials, cleaning job sites, and supporting paving, grading, and other roadwork operations.

• Assist with the setup and takedown of construction zones,.
• Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment.
• Perform physical labor such as shoveling, raking, sweeping, lifting, and moving debris or materials.
• Support asphalt paving crews by distributing asphalt, cleaning tools, and preparing surfaces.
• Operate small tools and equipment (e.g., compactors, saws, jackhammers) under supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work site by removing hazards and ensuring safe access.
• Assist equipment operators and skilled tradespeople as directed.
• Follow company safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Work in varying weather conditions and extended hours, including some weekends if necessary depending on the project timeline.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in construction or roadwork is an asset but not required.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing/walking for long periods).
• Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to follow them.
• Valid Class 5F driver?s license and reliable transportation to Zenith yard.
• Ability to work in a team environment and take direction well.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Outdoor work environment with exposure to traffic, weather, dust, and heavy machinery.
• Work may involve long hours, overtime, and weekend shifts during peak construction season.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
