Position Summary
The Educational Assistant provides crucial support for the school’s operations and mission. The Educational Assistant helps maintain a positive and organized classroom environment.
- Believe that the Bible is God’s inerrant word; it is the standard for faith and daily living
- Be deeply committed to a consistent daily walk with God; spend personal daily time in prayer and devotions.
- Be a member in good standing of a local church, which has a statement of faith in agreement with the statement of faith of CHS.
- Adhere to the CHS statement of faith
- Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards outlined in the staff handbook.
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Current (within the past 6 months) Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Check
- Must hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team
- Demonstrate ability to respond to student needs and learning adaptations in flexible and respectful ways
- Training and/or certification in First Aid, CPR
- Support students individually or in small groups with learning activities
- Help students with special educational needs, including learning disabilities, autism, behavioural challenges, or physical disabilities
- Monitor and encourage positive student behaviour using established classroom strategies
- Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, lunch, field trips, and transitions
- Observe and document student behaviour for the teacher
- Ensure student safety by following school policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines
- Encourage student independence, self-confidence, and problem-solving skills
