The Director of Wealth Management leads strategic and operational initiatives to strengthen client financial well‑being, grow investment portfolios, and enhance advisory excellence.
Key Accountabilities- Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Develop and implement the wealth and investment strategy aligned with the organization’s business plan.
- Set financial and growth targets for the wealth portfolio and monitor progress.
- Leverage data insights to drive client engagement, portfolio growth, and cross‑selling.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development to promote wealth services.
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships.
- Advisory Leadership & Service Excellence
- Oversee delivery of personalized financial planning and investment solutions.
- Ensure unbiased, ethical, and compliant advice.
- Maintain high service quality and compliance standards.
- Partner with internal teams across retail, wealth, and digital channels.
- Compliance, Risk & Regulatory Oversight
- Develop and review policies ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Oversee licensing, continuing education, and regulatory adherence for advisors.
- Maintain documentation, disclosure, and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to mitigate issues.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Wealth and Financial Advisors.
- Review employee development and succession plans.
- Support career growth through mentorship and training.
- Conduct performance reviews and support licensing pursuits.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Integration
- Collaborate with branch and regional managers to identify member needs.
- Work with marketing and communications for cohesive messaging.
- Participate in enterprise projects and technology initiatives.
- Reporting & Analytics
- Develop performance metrics and dashboards.
- Analyze trends in demographics, product performance, and market competitiveness.
- Prepare updates for executive leadership and the board.
- Other Duties
- Represent Sunrise at community and industry events.
- Monitor financial markets, regulatory changes, and investment trends.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Member Experience & Brand Officer.
- Post‑secondary diploma or degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Commerce.
- 8–10 years in wealth management or advisory services, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Active or eligible for Mutual Funds, IIROC, or Life Insurance license (MFDA, LLQP, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of financial markets and portfolio management.
- Completion of a professional designation (CFP, CIM, or PFP).
- Experience in a credit union or cooperative environment.
- Advanced coursework in leadership, compliance, or financial advisory management.
- Familiarity with CRM systems, financial planning software, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
- Deep knowledge of wealth management and financial planning practices.
- Strong compliance and risk orientation.
- Excellent business acumen and strategic alignment.
- Exceptional communication, relationship management, and presentation skills.
- Analytical, data‑driven decision‑making.
- Critical thinking to evaluate complex situations.
- Highly motivated self‑starter with strong accountability.
- Strategic thinking to anticipate market and client needs.
- Knowledge of investment technology and digital wealth platforms.
- Experience developing business cases or partnership proposals.
- Public speaking and community engagement experience.
