Sign Language Interpreter in Education

Location: Stockton

Take on a crucial role as a Sign Language Interpreter at Stockton Unified School District. This position focuses on ensuring clear communication for deaf and hard of hearing students in educational settings.

Under the guidance of special education leaders, you will apply your sign language proficiency to interpret effectively in classrooms and meetings. This role is pivotal in assisting students with their learning and social development, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities. You'll be a part of a collaborative team dedicated to student success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide interpreting services across varied educational settings

• Support the academic progress of D/HH students through tutoring

• Attend educational meetings and provide insights on student needs

• Assist in developing effective communication methods

• Maintain confidentiality of student interactions and materials

Requirements:

• Minimum 48 semester units or an Associate degree

• CDE Interpreter certification

• Two years’ experience in educational interpreting

• Knowledge of educational implications for hearing impairment

• Capacity to work in different locations as needed
