Part Time Maintenance Assistant

Nutra 2000 at Victoria Landing Retirement Residence is seeking a Part Time Permanent Maintenance Aide/Janitor/Handy Person

50 hours Biweekly

Assists the Maintenance Manager in the maintenance and repair programs involving buildings and grounds. Coordinates maintenance and repair activities with functions of other departments.

• 1. Keeps records of work performed.
• 2. Aids in receiving supplies delivered to the facility and in placing these supplies in the proper storage areas.
  
  This includes the receiving of all maintenance items, food, housekeeping, nursing supplies and so on.
• 3. Co-ordinates work in this department with other department?s functions so as not to disturb or interrupt resident care or normal business functions.
• 4. Advises and consults with the supervisor on maintenance and repair needs concerning structural equipment and grounds.
• 5. Maintains and inspects equipment and systems regularly used in performing duties.
• 6. Performs maintenance duties such as electrical and plumbing breakdowns, carpentry (including furniture refinishing or repair), mechanics (including equipment and mechanical systems), heating, cooling and water systems, except those services performed under service contract with outside contractors.
• 7. Performs duties concerned with maintenance of grounds, parking lots, driveways, etc., including landscaping, clean ups, snow removal, etc., except that performed under service contracts.
• 8. Cleans entrances and exits
• 9. Removes curtains for cleaning and re-hangs curtains, drapes, etc. when they are cleaned.
• 10.Performs or directs heavy duties such as scrubbing and buffing, storage and utility areas, outside window, changing screens and storm windows, changing light bulbs and ceiling fixtures and housekeeping duties in very high places, removing and disposing of garbage and trash.
• 11.Handles incoming and outgoing freight, lifts and moves heavy furniture and equipment, and performs other miscellaneous duties as directed by the Director of Maintenance.
• 12.Keeps adequate records.
• 13. Participates in fire drills.
  
  Attends staff meetings as required, to know changes in facility that have occurred and update knowledge in knowing the needs of the residents.
• 14. Is aware and endeavors to respect and promote the Resident Rights and Responsibilities.
• 15.Participates in the Quality Improvement Program.
• 16.Adheres to Infection Control policies
• 17.Other duties as may be assigned

• 1. A minimum of grade 10 or equivalent.
