Key Duties

Assist Lab director with maintenance, sample preparation, sample analysis, data colljection and data extraction. Splitting and cleaning silica sands using various methods and taking detailed notes. Selecting samples and shipping them to Act Labs for external verification. Preparing polished grain mounts, thin sections and double-polished sections. Analyzing samples using the scanning electron microscope. Aiding with cleaning and maintaining equipment and ensuring a safe and clean work environment.

Possible research projects in the future. May have to travel to field sites and do field work/ collect samples, take notes etc.

Qualifications/Experience
  • Third year Brandon University Earth Sciences Student preferred
  • Interest in geology, geochemistry and/or chemistry
  • Gpa will be considered as there may be future research and writing
  • Laboratory experience, and field work is a plus
