Retail & Store Manager, Operations Manager
What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Gas Bar Division Manager the Gas Bar Manager is responsible for leading the day‑to‑day operations of the Gas Bar/C‑Store to deliver safe, efficient, and customer‑focused service. This role oversees merchandising, inventory, cash control, fuel operations, staffing, and site standards to support sales growth and profitability.
Key responsibilities include:- Lead, mentor, and develop gas bar supervisors and frontline team members, fostering a positive, inclusive, and performance‑driven culture
- Lead daily site operations, including opening/closing procedures, fuel and merchandise inventory, site image and customer service standards.
- Manage team performance by recruiting, scheduling, training, coaching, and evaluating staff to ensure adequate coverage, strong service, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Oversee inventory, merchandising, and vendor coordination for convenience store products and fuel to maintain stock levels, reduce shrink, and support sales and margin targets.
- Administer cash controls, daily reconciliations, reporting, budgeting, and expense monitoring while addressing customer concerns and resolving operational issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain compliance with workplace safety, fuel handling, age‑restricted sales, food safety, environmental, and asset protection requirements, and ensure the site is clean and well maintained.
- Post‑secondary Diploma or Degree – related field preferred or equivalent relevant work experience may be considered
- 1‑3+ years of progressively responsible retail experience, including experience in convenience store, fuel, or food retail operations, with previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of fuel handling regulations, workplace safety, and operational best practices
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and meet operational and financial targets
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and decision‑making skills
- Strong computer and technical background, including effective working skills of the Microsoft suite and Outlook
- Ability to work independently or as part of a Team
- Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Proven effective communication skills; both verbal and written
- Experience in a Co‑op retail environment preferred
