South End Lumber has been proudly serving Brandon and the surrounding communities since 1954. Locally owned and operated, we are a trusted building materials supplier for everything from home renovations to large-scale construction projects. Our retail store offers a wide range of products, including lumber and building materials, windows and doors, roofing and siding, tools and hardware, paint, plumbing supplies, electrical components, and more.

We are seeking a Yard Attendant for a full-time position. Yard Attendants are responsible for the operation of the yard, including the loading and unloading of materials, performing deliveries, the safe storage of product, the efficient handling of customer/contractor orders and the overall operations of the South End Lumber Timber Mart's building material yard and on-site storage facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Loading trucks with orders and delivering/unloading orders at job sites.
  • Ensuring all deliveries are loaded promptly to meet delivery schedules.
  • Receiving, unloading and safe storage of product being shipped in from vendors.
  • Providing friendly and helpful service to customers in the yard.
  • Ensuring the yard is kept clean and organized, free of garbage and debris.
  • Maintaining all inventory and ensuring products are kept organized.
  • Stocking/re-stocking and labelling of all inventory.
  • Building customer orders, including staging, loading and coordination of delivery.
  • Operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely (training provided)
  • Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 100 lbs) consistently throughout their shift.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Forklift certification is an asset (training will be provided if the candidate is not certified).
  • Great communication and customer service skills.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence required;
    Class 3 licence considered an asset.
  • Communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to work Saturdays on a rotating schedule.
