Healthcare Nursing, Patient Care Technician
$2,000 Sign‑On Bonus. Reporting to the Clinical Care Manager, the CNA is responsible for assisting with direct patient care within the scope of their practice. Provides personal care to the patient and assists with activities of daily living in the patient’s home, facilities and/or inpatient units. The CNA is responsible for maintaining their own clinical and mandatory education requirements and for meeting the established standards of their profession as well as those accountable for their practice, assigned duties/patient care, and is an advocate for patients/families and their profession.
Demonstrates knowledge of age‑specific patient populations and cultural diversity during the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes. Promotes an environment of care and supports the organizational vision and mission.
- Current certification in the State of Florida as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience preferred.
- Must maintain current CPR certification.
- Experience caring for the terminally ill.
- Experience caring for others with life‑threatening illness.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Valid auto insurance.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs or assists patients with tub/shower/bath, bed baths, personal care, skin care, dressing, nail care, hair care, foot care and oral hygiene.
- Takes and records blood pressure, pulse, respiration, weight and temperature. Reports abnormalities to the RN.
- Assists patient or caregiver with the use of Hoyer lift, commode, bedpan, urinal, wheelchair, hospital bed and other equipment as directed by the registered nurse.
- Assists patients to achieve maximum independence in their activities of daily living and promotes optimal well‑being through maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
- Works with the RN to maintain accurate patient records and reports changes in patient condition to the Case Manager or NCM.
- Adheres to infection control and universal precautions protocols.
- Utilizes proper body mechanics when lifting and moving patients.
- Maintains a professional relationship and acts as a liaison with other care providers.
- Provides emotional support to the patient/family in accordance with the hospice philosophy and plan of care.
- Shows a positive, “can‑do” attitude and is dependable and punctual.
