The Physical Therapy Assistant Licensed will provide physical therapy services to assigned students under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant will provide therapy in accordance with the Physical Therapy Practice Act, Chapter 486.021, F.S. and under the regulation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

- Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
- Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.
- Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.
- Implements therapeutic activities identified on the Plan of Care developed by the Physical Therapist.
- Documents all therapy services including daily documentation, progress notes and Medicaid billing.
- Collects data to assist the Physical Therapist in evaluating the student’s needs and progress towards the Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goals.
- Assists the Physical Therapist with in-service training of staff in therapeutic techniques, use of adaptive equipment, and determining students’ adaptive equipment needs.
- Attends team and staff meetings/in-services and school team meetings as appropriate.
- Applies evidence-based research and best practices for the implementation of therapeutic interventions for improving student outcomes.
- Collects and uses data for decision making and implementation of therapeutic interventions/strategies under the direction of the supervising physical therapist.
- Initiates and supports school personnel with problem solving in planning, facilitating, or delivering interventions to support student outcomes identified on the student’s IEP.
- Collaborates with school personnel and demonstrates knowledge of the educational environment to promote safe and accessible schools.
- Continues to develop professional expertise through professional readings, trainings, and conferences.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
