Veterinary Technician - Surgery

Blue Pearl Pet Hospital i is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team.

$20.00 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

4 x 10 hour shifts. Anesthesia On-Call Required.

A Blue Pearl Surgery Technician is responsible for some post‑operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, trouble‑shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• Perform intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Perform physical exam; accurately count heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alert the doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI's.
• Continue expanding knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
• Have experience with ASA III–V anesthetic ventilator cases.
