In keeping a tradition of excellence, the purpose of the CTE Teacher is to help students learn required subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women; and to lead by example in abiding by employee conduct policy GAB.
Duties and Responsibilities- Meet and instruct assigned classes as directed by the Principal
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students
- Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate to the students’ maturity and interests
- Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request
- Encourage students to maintain high standards of classroom behavior
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establish clear objectives for lessons, units and projects, and communicate them to students
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with classroom resources and student needs
- Implement District philosophy of education and instructional goals
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as assigned
- Identify and report potential learning disabilities and provide required progress reports
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Maintain accurate records as required by law, district policy and regulation
- Assist administration in implementing student conduct policies and establish reasonable classroom rules
- Remain available to students and parents outside instructional hours when required
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides/volunteers and evaluate performance in collaboration with department heads
- Participate in professional development training and maintain professional competence
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees
- Maintain responsibility for district owned fixed assets and comply with acceptable use policies
- Undergo periodic evaluations per state and board policy
- Maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrate regular, dependable, in‑person, punctual attendance
- Perform additional duties as requested by school leadership or district policy
- Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, and all other District, State, and Federal policies as established by RCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Hold an appropriate Mississippi Teaching Credential or a valid emergency certification issued by the Mississippi State Board of Education
- Other requirements as specified for the CTE component of the position
Employees regularly talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle equipment, occasionally stoop or kneel. Vision requirements include close vision.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment is the active school campus, both inside and outside facilities, with noise levels low to moderate and occasionally high.
Terms Of EmploymentSalary, days, and work year as established by the Rankin County Board of Education.
EvaluationPerformance evaluated per Rankin County School Board policy on Evaluation of Employees.
