About the Role
We are seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer or Geologist to support environmental consulting projects for industrial, commercial, and governmental clients. This position is suited for an entry to mid-level professional who wants direct involvement in regulatory compliance, site investigation, and remediation projects, with exposure to clients and regulators rather than purely internal report production.
You will work closely with senior engineers, geologists, project managers, and clients on compliance programs, field investigations, and large‑scale remediation projects from field execution through completion.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform field work including groundwater sampling, soil sampling, drilling oversight, remediation system oversight, and site inspections at industrial and underground storage tank (UST) sites
- Prepare technical deliverables such as Phase I and Phase II ESAs, groundwater monitoring reports, corrective action and remedial action plans, and regulatory correspondence
- Support large‑scale remediation projects, including data evaluation, system monitoring, and construction or operational oversight
- Assist with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting, monitoring, inspections, and reporting
- Support development and implementation of Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and conduct stormwater compliance inspections
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans and spill response coordination
- Support hazardous waste management activities, including waste characterization, container management, and regulatory documentation
- Coordinate with subcontractors, laboratories, drilling contractors, and remediation vendors
- Participate in client meetings, regulatory inspections, and compliance audits
- Track schedules, budgets, and action items under direction of program managers
- Maintain accurate project documentation and data management systems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, geological engineering, geology, or a related field
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Geologist‑in‑Training (GIT) certification
- 0 to 5 years of environmental consulting or relevant industry experience
- Ability and willingness to perform regular field work in industrial and construction environments
- Strong technical writing, data evaluation, and professional communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including NPDES, RCRA, and CERCLA
- Experience with groundwater monitoring, stormwater compliance programs, or remediation systems
- Familiarity with SPCC, SWPPP, and hazardous waste management requirements
- Health and safety compliance experience or knowledge, including OSHA general industry standards, site‑specific health and safety plans (HASP), and contractor oversight
- Prior environmental consulting experience or experience at a regulatory agency
