Job purpose:
In keeping a tradition of excellence, the Cafeteria Worker serves students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Perform duties related to preparation of food, serving, cleaning all areas of the kitchen or other assigned duties within the time allotted
- Attend training meetings as required
- Report to work at designated time and remain on the job until dismissed by the manager
- Notify the manager by 6:00 a.m. on the day to be missed due to illness
- Maintain pleasant working relations with fellow employees and maintain confidentiality
- Follow safety, sanitation, personal standards, and work methods as instructed by the manager
- Perform duties involved in safe food preparation and handling, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities, and serving of food
- Maintain the trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion
- Lead and attend staff meetings/trainings as applicable; serve on staff committees
- Maintain professional growth, keep current with literature and professional development as required
- Ensure accountability for district-owned assets following district policies
- Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
- Maintain confidentiality
- Regular, dependable, in-person, and punctual attendance is essential
- Perform other duties as may be requested by district leadership or established by policy
- Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy and all district/state/federal policies and procedures
- Education:
High School diploma or equivalent preferred; previous food service experience is advantageous - Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices

Additional qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board
- Prolonged standing, walking, and manual tasks
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally; regularly lift up to 35 pounds
- Manual dexterity for food service tasks and use of equipment
- Active school campus inside and outside; not a standard office setting
- Noise level typically low to moderate, sometimes high
- Salary, days, and work year as established by the Rankin County Board of Education
