This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

As a Team Member, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented. You must be able to fulfill all of the following requirements:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and have the ability to work varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
  • Thank the Customer
  • Engage with the customer and/or pet
  • Advise on products or services
  • Make it Memorable
• Perform a combination of duties during 95% of your day, including but not limited to:
  • Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures
  • Merchandise recovery
  • Participate in freight processing
  • Complete Plan-o-gram procedures
  • Assemble merchandise
  • Perform janitorial duties
  • Execute price changes/markdowns
  • Assist customers with loading purchases
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of live animals, including sanitizing and maintaining tanks
  • Complete all related documentation
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:

No experience required. Retail experience and/or pet/live animal knowledge is strongly preferred.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required. Ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

• Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.

• Generally indoor environment with moderate noise.
• Hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt; adequate lighting and temperature.
• Work shifts typically range from 4 to over 8 hours.
• Promote a safe and productive environment, adhering to safety guidelines.

• This position is non-sedentary and requires physical stamina.
• Ability to move quickly and safely throughout the store and outdoor areas.
• Operate equipment safely and accurately.
• Occasionally lift or reach overhead.
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders frequently.
• Move throughout the store for entire shifts.
• Access all store areas safely.
• Operate store equipment and process information accurately.
• Transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
