minimum requirements

  • a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or
  • six (6) months of experience as an environmental specialist i or higher with the state of florida; or
  • one (1) year of experience in environmental protection, regulation, or one of the physical or natural sciences; agriculture; or engineering.

  • must be willing to be deployed from assigned headquarters for extended periods for incident response activities.

job duties
  • schedule and conduct inspections and collect samples to determine compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • conduct investigations in response to reports, complaints, violations or suspicious matters to collect, summarize and report evidence.
  • prepare and submit written and electronic reports in a timely manner.
  • issue corrective notices as necessary.
  • maintain knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations; read and interpret pesticide labels, regulations and legal descriptions.
  • participate in coordinated enforcement activities involving other department employees and government agencies.
  • serve as representative of the department in administrative hearings, court proceedings or meetings.
  • participate in bureau and division meetings and training courses as required.
  • participate in special projects and incident response activities.
  • perform other duties as requested.
