Site Overview: Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington, Ontario is a full-service community hospital offering emergency, inpatient, and outpatient care. Opened in 1961, it serves over 250,000 residents across Halton and Hamilton-Wentworth regions.

Position: Part-Time Security Guard

Hours: Sunday & Saturday )

Payrate: $19.29/hr.

- $20.45/hr. (based on levelling system)

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is AA

Start Date: October 1st, 2026

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure site safety and security.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems and report suspicious activity immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Monitor and control hospital entry points, ensuring only authorized individuals access restricted areas.
• Respond quickly to medical emergencies, fire alarms, security threats, and evacuations. Assist hospital staff during crises.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff. Provide directions and ensure guests follow hospital policies and procedures.
• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and handle all interactions calmly and professionally.
• Accurately document daily activities, incidents, accidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to maintain a coordinated security effort.
• Ensure hospital visitor and patient protocols are followed and address violations according to safety standards.

Requirements:

• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB-approved provider
• Immunization records for MMR, Varicella, two COVID-19 doses, and two-step TB skin test
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Minimum one year of healthcare security or law enforcement experience
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security & Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services is an asset
• Able to remain clean-shaven for N95 mask fit testing
• Ability to walk and climb stairs for extended periods
• Valid Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certifications

Applicants without UOF/MOAB certifications may complete Paladin's pre-employment certification program before onboarding. Training costs are covered by Paladin with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability. The training is unpaid as it is a pre-employment requirement.
