Mechanical Design Engineer

Royal Machine Solutions is a growing engineering and manufacturing company specializing in the design and fabrication of custom conveyor systems and industrial equipment. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer to join our team and take ownership of projects from concept through manufacturing.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience designing custom conveyor systems
  • Proficient in Solid Works
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects
  • Experience:

    Conveyor: 5 years (preferred)
  • Mechanical Design: 5 years (required)
  • Solid Works: 5 years (required)
Responsibilities
  • Design custom conveyor systems and related industrial equipment
  • Meet with customers by phone and conduct site visits to gather project requirements
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings in Solid Works
  • Design sheet metal components, machined parts, weldments, and fabricated assemblies
  • Prepare bills of materials and coordinate vendor procurement
  • Prepare quotations and assist with estimating new projects
  • Support production by answering design questions and resolving manufacturing issues
  • Maintain and improve existing product designs and engineering documentation
  • Manage engineering revisions and product standardization
Preferred Experience
  • Lean manufacturing principles
  • Design optimization for cost, manufacturability, reliability, and ease of assembly
  • Product lifecycle management and engineering change control
  • Inventory reduction through design standardization
  • Design for manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
  • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Custom automation or material handling equipment
  • Conveyor types, belts, bearings, drives, and power transmission components
