The Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) is a nonprofit organization that provides technical advisory services, training, and capacity development to First Nations communities in Ontario. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Water Operator Trainer to join our team er the guidance of the CRTP Supervisor, the Water Operator Trainer will play a crucial role in training First Nation Water Treatment Plant Operators, coordinating and scheduling CEUs and OJTs for First Nation operators, and supporting operators in maintaining current licenses. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the operations of a Class II water treatment plant, strong oral and written communication skills, and a valid Class II Water Treatment and Water Distribution Operator license.
These tasks must be executed in alignment with the culture and values of OFNTSC while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Responsibilities- Train First Nation Water Treatment Plant Operators in the operation and maintenance of community water and wastewater infrastructure through on-site OFNTSC Certified Education Units (CEUs) and On-the-Job Training (OJT).

- Develop capacity within First Nations by mentoring and supporting individuals interested in pursuing careers as Water Treatment Operators.
- Create, monitor, and submit accurate OFNTSC CRTP Operator Training Plans.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to First Nations Operators as needed.
- Respond to operators' inquiries and concerns promptly, professionally, and courteously.
- Travel to First Nation communities to provide training, ensuring accurate record‑keeping and timely submission of training documentation.
- Track, monitor, and maintain own professional training and certification to ensure compliance with OFNTSC requirements and uphold certification standards.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the OFNTSC’s CRTP CEU training library.
- Participate in OFNTSC and client‑related seminars, conferences and training events to stay current with industry standards.
- Attend OFNTSC CRT training events to maintain professional knowledge and certification compliance.
- Valid Class II Water Treatment & Water Distribution Operator licenses.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the operations of a Class II Water Treatment Plant.
- Experience working with an Indigenous organization and understanding First Nations cultures is considered a significant asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, database functions and management.
- Demonstrates effective time management, prioritization, and initiative with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and mechanical aptitude, including familiarity with SCADA, GIS, and CMMS Systems.
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge, understanding, and experience with the application of related Provincial legislation and acts (Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Water Regulation Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Environmental Protection Act).
- Reliable and insured vehicle and a valid Ontario Class G driver’s license.
